A naked speed-dating event has sold
out in a matter of weeks. Up to 120
singles have forked out £50 each for
the privilege of baring all before getting
three minutes to chat up a member of the
opposite sex. The Brighton event, believe
to be the first of its kind in the UK, will have
a Garden Of Eden theme.Despite the
popularity of the evening, organisers have
been forced to compromise their original
plans because of public concerns over
possible indecency.
Instead of an entire evening of nudity,
there will be a "naturists hour" when
people can strip off and take part in the
speed dating. The women will sit in one
place while the men move from table to
table, spending three minutes chatting to
each female. Once the hour is over, the l
ustful Adam and Eves will have to cover
up again. Those reluctant to put their clothes
back on can opt to hide their modesty with a
strategically placed fig leaf.
Activities will kick off in the early evening of
July 24 at the Chez Nous pub in Arundel Road,
Kemp Town, with champagne cocktails and a
barbecue in the garden, which will be decked
with fairy lights. Guests will dine on barbecued
vegetables cut into heart shapes while being
entertained with live music.
There will also be an alternative health
element to the evening. Those who
don't meet Mr or Miss Right can spend
time with one of the therapists and indulge
in some reflexology, reiki or have an Indian
head massage.
Organiser Matt Whistler, who plans
to go naked at the event, said:
"This night is meant to signify the rebirth
of romance, all tied in with the Garden
of Eden theme."Bar owner Dominique Burford
will transform Chez Nous to ensure daters
keep their privacy and shed their inhibitions.
The back garden is secluded
while the pub windows will be
blacked out to deter peeping toms.
Ms Burford also plans to ban
cameras and ask people to
switch off their mobiles.She said:
"We hope people will meet the love
of their life there or at least leave having
made one or two new friends."
